Actress and Filmmaker Parker Boyle Jones Spreads Dwarfism Awareness

By: Get News
Actress and filmmaker Parker Boyle Jones has a passion for film and uses her exposure as a way to increase awareness about dwarfism and disabilities in general. Jones plans to change how people think about and treat people with disabilities through her work and social media presence.

Acting is a tough industry for anyone, and a young actress with dwarfism faced more hurdles than most. Still, Parker Boyle Jones didn’t let that stop her from creating her own opportunities and turning a lifelong passion into a career.

“I decided a long time ago that I would never take a stereotypical role that I didn’t feel good about playing, and I’m working to defy the Hollywood standards,” Jones said.

“I still can’t believe I get to be the first little person to play this iconic character on screen, and I love to think about what this has the potential to mean for young girls with disabilities,” Jones said on Instagram.

Jones performed the iconic role of Belle from the beloved Disney classic Beauty and the Beast in the San Francisco Children’s Musical Theater’s Youth Movie Musical.

Using social media to change the conversation

Jones uses her platform on social media to educate about dwarfism and other disabilities. Many people may not realize when something they say or do is offensive to people with disabilities. Jones tries to steer the conversation to a productive place.

“I make posts and reels on my Instagram to teach people how to be respectful towards people with dwarfism and disabilities in general,” Jones said.
