Shifting Interests and the Value of Persistence

Dr. Schmit Jongbloed's first pursuit was the exploration of physics and theology, which he viewed as two great truths. Through persistence, he found that neither field fully captivated his interest. Accepting feedback and support from friends and family, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed chose to find a new direction in law. In 2007, he graduated with a Master of Laws in Dutch civil law and philosophy of law from Leiden University.

Only a year later, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed pivoted again, earning a Master of Laws in international finance at Goethe University of Frankfurt in 2008. Upon completing his studies in Europe, he joined the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment as a research fellow in 2009. Between fellowships and scholarship positions at Columbia University, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed combined his two interests and completed a Doctor of Philosophy in law and economics at the institution in 2017.

Joining Exante Data

In 2016, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed joined Exante Data as its head of political risk analysis, a role he still occupies today. Having built strong foundations in international trade, capital flows and Wall Street influences alongside some of the greatest minds in law and finance, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed successfully opened a new world of financial dialogue.

After concluding a role as lecturer and research scholar at Fundação Getulio Vargas, Direito Rio in 2018, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed was appointed director of legal affairs at Exante Data. He served in this role until 2021, joining Market Reader as a senior legal counsel the next year. In 2023, while still serving as head of political risk analysis at Exante Data and senior legal counsel at Market Reader, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed entered the role of chief operating officer at Exante Data.

Today, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed is responsible for overseeing the operations of Exante Data, as well as key legal work and the acquisition of new clients. At the same time, he pushes information technology strategy and handles political risk factors. Recognizing that the world is poised for change and innovation, Dr. Schmit Jongbloed takes his current roles and long-term growth seriously.
