“NBC is an outstanding institution, worthy of the esteem of both the community and the State of New York” Tague said. Their investment in renovating and establishing a branch in the building that formerly housed Legacy Bank after the flood of 2011 makes a valued partner in the rebuilding of the surrounding area, and a truly good neighbor.”
In 2012, The National Bank of Coxsackie purchased the building at 4507 State Route 30. At the ribbon cutting, then bank president James Warren, pledged a long stay in a building with a history of bank turnovers. The building had sustained damage during the flooding of the Schoharie Creek resulting from the massive rains of Hurricane Irene. NBC saw potential in the site and after bank executives visited the area, they knew the community was the perfect fit.
Branch Manager Heather Kelly affirmed “National Bank of Coxsackie prides itself on being a reliable hometown bank that focuses on and is committed to customer service and its surrounding communities.”
In addition to Kelly, NBC was well represented at the event by CEO John Balli, SVPs Donald Gardner & Mark Maraglio, VPs Charlene Slemp & Nicole Bliss as well as Lucas Fiedler, Jamie Casterlin, Jody Shaw, Amanda Snedeker, Brenda Bellinger, Tina Fisher, Amber Trafton, and Krista Mann.
Special guests included Town of Broome Supervisor, Steve Weinhoffer, Town of Fulton Supervisor, Phil Skowfoe, Village of Middleburgh Mayor Trish Bergen, and Town of Middleburgh Supervisor Wes Laraway. Wes Laraway also brought a great horned owl, the bank's mascot, as he runs the Northeast Wildlife Rescue Center.
“NBC recognizes the value of relationships with the people in their service areas” noted CEO Balli. “Employees of this branch volunteer their time with several organizations that include the Schoharie County Chamber, Cobleskill Partnerships INC, Middleburgh Rotary, the MCS Education Foundation and more. Each year, the branch takes a day to close early and perform a community service project. In 2021, they chose to help paint the community pool in preparation of its reopening.”
The National Bank of Coxsackie was founded in 1852, therefore also celebrating their 170th anniversary. They currently have 8 branches located in Coxsackie, Greenville, West Coxsackie, Ravena, Athens, Cairo, Middleburgh and Glenmont.
