Resilience Investments Unveils Leadership from Airbnb, Ethic to Launch Resilient Affordable Housing Strategy

Resilience Investments today announced senior leadership appointments and a new strategy focused on resilient affordable housing in climate-stable U.S. markets. The company’s approach addresses widening disparities in insurance availability and household costs that are reshaping American housing. These shifts come amid The Economist’s estimate that climate change could put up to $25 trillion in real estate value at risk.

To lead this work, Jay Lipman, co-founder of sustainable asset manager Ethic ($7B+ AUM), has joined Resilience as Co-Founder & President. Ameet Konkar, formerly Head of Sustainability at Airbnb, has joined as Chief Strategy Officer.

Resilience has established operations in the Great Lakes region — which it dubs the “Safety Belt” — where affordable premiums and stable coverage support long-term value, in sharp contrast to the volatility now roiling Florida, California, and much of the Sunbelt.

“Real estate is the foundation of household stability,” said Jay Lipman, Co-Founder & President of Resilience. “Resilience is building a model designed to navigate the once-in-a-generation shifts underway in housing—and to make homes a platform for the innovations that will define the future of affordability and resilience.”

Ameet Konkar built and led Airbnb’s sustainability strategy, helping millions of hosts reduce energy use and costs while advancing the company’s net-zero commitments. He is widely recognized as a leading sustainability executive with a strong commercial lens and an expert on residential decarbonization.

“I’m joining Resilience because it’s redefining what affordable housing can mean in a changing world,” said Konkar. “Through electrification, efficiency, and smarter operations, we can operate homes that are resilient, cost-effective, and ready for the future.”

“As someone who has scaled multi-billion-dollar institutional housing portfolios in the Safety Belt, I see Resilience as a critical evolution in the sector,” said Andy Boyum, Chief Investment Officer of Resilience. “It combines the core fundamentals of a Midwest affordable housing strategy with a data-driven integration of demographic shifts and climate risk — elements that are increasingly central to the future of housing.”

“Resilience is assembling the right team at the right moment,” said Hunter Maats, Co-Founder & CEO of Resilience. “With Jay, Ameet, and Andy, we have the leadership to capitalize on the biggest housing market shift since 2008 while strengthening affordable, resilient communities.”
