Novel digital safety program addresses the human side of cybersecurity as AI makes deception increasingly difficult to detect

As millions of Americans prepare for Medicare Open Enrollment beginning October 15, AI Communications Consulting today launched Pause.Prove.Protect.™, a quarterly digital safety education program to help organizations prepare the people they serve for a rapidly changing scam landscape.

“As AI makes fraudulent messages, images, voices and videos increasingly convincing, it rapidly erodes the cues we have historically relied on to establish trust,” said Langley Allbritton, founder of the Pause.Prove.Protect.™ digital safety program. “It's time to build new habits: pause before reacting, independently prove what’s real, and proactively protect money and personal information.”

Open enrollment periods have long created opportunities for fraud, from impersonation and fraudulent plan offers, to attempts to obtain Medicare numbers and personal information. In May, the FTC reported that Medicare losses from fraud, errors and abuse cost taxpayers about $60 billion annually.

Based on her experience tracking digital deception, Allbritton recommends five precautions during Medicare Open Enrollment:

  1. Never share your Medicare number with an unexpected caller.
  2. Don’t trust caller ID. It can be faked.
  3. Don’t be rushed into changing plans or coverage.
  4. Call 1-800-MEDICARE to verify offers before acting.
  5. Check your Medicare statements for charges you don’t recognize.

The Pause.Prove.Protect.™ Program

Designed to strengthen the human behavior layer beyond reach of traditional cybersecurity, Pause.Prove.Protect.™ is an ambient education program that embeds frequent digital safety reminders into everyday communications across corporate, financial services, hospitality, and senior communities. Each month focuses on timely issues, informed by 80 trusted global sources. Program champions receive rollout strategies and access to a plug-and-play content library, refreshed quarterly, keeping deployment relevant, fast, easy and scalable.

AI Communications Consulting also provides free digital safety resources, including an AI scam newsletter, a global scam tracker updated daily, and an educational scam app to help encourage people to pause and verify before responding.
