Alpha Management today announced the launch of its Student Housing Access Pledge, a personal commitment built around the growing need for practical student housing options near Boston and Brookline universities.
The pledge is connected to a timely issue facing the city. Many students need to live off campus because on-campus housing is limited. At the same time, Boston’s broader housing market remains tight. That makes student-friendly rental options an important part of the local housing conversation.
“We recognized early on that students needed practical housing options close to where they study,” said Anwar Faisal, founder of Alpha Management. “If people are coming to Boston to build their future, they need a place to start.”
According to the City of Boston’s 2025 housing reporting, 40.5 percent of students at Boston-based institutions live off campus in private housing. That represents 65,823 students. Another 33.5 percent live in university-provided housing, while 25.8 percent live at home, study abroad, or take part in co-op programs.
The need also connects to the larger role education plays in Massachusetts. A 2025 higher education impact report found that Massachusetts higher education supports an estimated $15.6 billion in economic impact, with 475,654 total students and 303,389 jobs created across industries.
“Students are a vital part of Boston,” Faisal said. “They contribute to the energy, culture, and economy of the city. Supporting them makes sense for the community as a whole.”
Why Alpha Management Is Taking the Pledge
