University of Minnesota Extension published profile by Rebecca Froehlich examining Wildcat Management President Tanya Ragan's twenty-year career revitalizing downtown Dallas, her ownership of the historic Purse Building, and the leadership lessons she credits to Minnesota 4-H.

-- Tanya Ragan founded Wildcat Management in 2006 after working in fashion and the oil industry and has spent the two decades since revitalizing downtown Dallas as the only female owner of a real estate investment and development company in the city's urban core. She owns the Purse Building, a 1905 landmark across from Dealey Plaza that served as the FBI's operation center following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

In 2009, Ragan organized a business group that advocated to privatize and create what is now the largest residential district in downtown Dallas. She traces that effort directly back to skills she built running a 4-H club in Olmsted County, Minnesota, where she was a member of the Burr Oak Beavers and later served as president of the Pleasant Grove 4-H Club. "It's just like in your 4-H club, where you're bringing all the people together," Ragan said, describing the same model she used to align residents and businesses around a shared vision for the district.

That instinct for organizing people around a common goal carried into other parts of Ragan's civic work, including her service on hiring committees for the Dallas police chief and her advocacy for homeless commissions. She credits the discipline behind all of it to a much earlier lesson, raising rabbits for competition at the Minnesota State Fair through nights often well below zero. Every year since graduating the program, Ragan has sponsored the Grand Champion Rabbit award in Olmsted County, passing the same foundation on to the next generation of 4-H members.
