Dr. Mecias-Murphy has built a prosperous career as the co-owner and president of JA&M Developing LLC since 2005. JA&M Developing LLC specializes in full-service general contracting for such commercial services as municipal and turnkey shell projects. These services and projects involve rough carpentry, stucco, concrete, masonry and steel for mid-rise and high-rise construction of various developments, including private apartments, hotels, airports, municipalities and low-income housing.

While her professional journey initially began as a teacher and school counselor, where she worked for more than 10 years, Dr. Mecias-Murphy has remained dedicated to the construction field. She is licensed as a general contractor and serves on the board of directors of the Florida East Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, as well as on the Murphy Construction Program Advisory Board from the University of Miami.

Her academic achievements have supported her professional career. Dr. Mecias-Murphy earned a master's degree from St. Thomas University in Miami and then continued her academic efforts at Barry University, where she obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling in 2007.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Mecias-Murphy is dedicated to civic advocacy. She contributes to the Epic Foundation's board of directors and excels as a board member and immediate past chair of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. She is also actively involved with the Metro Life Church.

Dr. Mecias-Murphy is well respected for her contributions to the construction industry. She was named Woman of the Year in 2016 and recognized among the Top 100 Leaders in Real Estate and Construction in 2021.
