New product brings plans, enrollments, and dependents into Finch's unified employment API, starting with ADP Workforce Now and Workday

Finch, the unified API for payroll, HR, and benefits, today announced Early Access to Finch Benefits, giving insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and benefits technology platforms programmatic access to employee enrollment data from Human Capital Management (HCM) systems. The launch extends Finch's coverage of 250+ payroll and HR systems to include benefits administration as well. The new API is available today for ADP Workforce Now and Workday, with more providers arriving through the 2027 Open Enrollment season.

The benefits ecosystem still runs on manual data plumbing: CSV uploads, EDI feeds, and SFTP drops. These batch cadences leave carriers, TPAs, and benefits tech platforms making claims and eligibility decisions against data that is often weeks out of date. But building API integrations with individual vendors can cost millions of dollars and take years to complete. Finch Benefits replaces those manual feeds with one employer-authorized API connection.

"Every carrier, TPA, and benefits platform we work with is trying to solve a similar challenge: find a faster way to onboard clients and act on their data before it goes stale," said Jeremy Zhang, CEO of Finch. "Combining benefits enrollment with the payroll coverage they already trust us for is the closest this industry has come to a single source of truth for employment data."

A first for the unified API category

Finch Benefits is the first unified API that can both read benefits enrollment data and write deductions and contributions back to payroll. That closes a loop the industry has historically run through disconnected file feeds. With one connection, a platform can surface an employee's coverage, verify their dependents, and adjust the paycheck line item that funds their plan.

The shift matters in categories like insurance, where connectivity is a key driver for deals.

"We've heard from our top sales executives that it's not the rates that sell our coverage or even our products anymore. There's not that much differentiation. Life insurance and disability coverage, those things are somewhat standard. So it's really who can connect, who can do it well, who can exchange their data and make it smooth and easy for their HR team," said Sherri Bycroft, Director of Benefit Technology Relationships at Prudential.
