Author Prakash Dighe delivers a suspenseful and fast paced international thriller in his latest novel, Special Edition: A Drug Dealer’s Dead End. Set against the vibrant and rugged landscapes of Kenya, the book blends espionage, political intrigue, and high stakes action during one of the world’s most famous motorsport events.
The story centers on the Safari Rally, an internationally televised race that draws global attention to Kenya each year. Known for its challenging terrain and dramatic scenery, the rally becomes the perfect opportunity for a hidden international plot. A Middle Eastern country hopes to damage Kenya’s reputation by orchestrating a disturbance during the event, potentially shifting global attention away from the host nation.
A mysterious figure known only as “Doc” arrives in Kenya days before the rally begins. Moving quietly and deliberately, he begins carrying out a plan designed to create chaos during the event. As suspicion grows, Kenyan authorities attempt to uncover the truth, but their investigation quickly becomes complicated by a web of distractions and misleading clues.
Several unusual characters emerge during the investigation, including an alluring and mysterious Southeast Asian woman, a Russian arms dealer, and a young couple who unknowingly become involved while sponsoring a local rally entrant. Meanwhile, international intelligence agencies begin to take interest in the unfolding situation. A vigilant Mossad agent and a curious KGB agent both attempt to unravel the conspiracy before it reaches its dangerous conclusion.
The rally itself unfolds across Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes, beginning on Good Friday and ending on Easter Monday in Nairobi, often called the “Green City under the Sun.” With sharp dialogue, subtle humor, and unexpected twists, the novel delivers an engaging story that keeps readers on edge until the final moments.
Prakash Dighe lived in India, Germany, and Kenya before settling in the United States. After spending more than two decades in Africa, he was inspired to use Kenya as the setting for his novels. He now lives with his family in Dallas, Texas, where he continues to write internationally inspired stories.
