Washington, US - June 25, 2026 - Dr. DeAnna Lynn Nix, a U.S. Army veteran and founder of N.A.M.E. – Not At My Expense™, will introduce her leadership program at Shawn Fair's Leadership Experience Tour at the Michigan State University Education Center in Troy, Michigan, on August 6–8, 2026. The appearance will mark the first public presentation of her platform, which addresses workplace burnout and the loss of identity that many professionals report during long careers.
The Leadership Experience Tour gathers speakers, entrepreneurs, and managers for sessions on leadership and professional growth. Founder Shawn Fair states that the program operates as a recurring platform for speakers across the United States. Dr. Nix used her session to present the ideas behind her program to attendees from several industries.
A Career in Military and Federal Service
Before she began speaking on leadership, Dr. Nix served as an active-duty combat medic in the United States Army. During that service, she earned the Expert Field Medical Badge, a qualification that the Army recognizes as difficult to obtain. Army sources report that the badge has a pass rate below 30 percent in most testing cycles, which places it among the harder skill badges in the service.
Dr. Nix later worked in real estate and master planning during a federal career that spanned more than two decades, serving primarily with the U.S. Army and most recently at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. According to N.A.M.E., her federal service was recognized with the Stalwart Award from the Installation Management Command. The role required long-range planning and the coordination of institutional resources to meet community needs.
The Focus of the N.A.M.E. Program
Dr. Nix founded N.A.M.E. – Not At My Expense™ around the idea that professional success does not need to come at the cost of a person’s health or sense of self. The program centers on a concept she calls “Dominate Without Dying,” which she uses to describe success that does not depend on exhaustion or burnout.
The program responds to a concern that workplace researchers have studied for years. Burnout and disengagement affect many employees and can reduce both well-being and job performance. Dr. Nix presents methods that she says help professionals maintain their identity and purpose while they meet demanding goals. Her sessions have reached community groups, corporate teams, and organizational leaders.
About the Presentation in Troy
At the Troy event, Dr. Nix introduced the principles and structure of N.A.M.E. to a live audience for the first time. The presentation gave attendees a direct view of the program’s methods and goals. The Leadership Experience Tour draws leaders, entrepreneurs, and managers who attend to develop their professional skills, which gave Dr. Nix a platform to reach a national audience.
Dr. Nix holds a Doctorate in Christian Leadership and Business and lives in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She has more than 35 years of experience across military, government, and community roles, and she now applies that experience to her work as a speaker and program founder.
