These general gatherings are open to patients, survivors, caregivers, and family members, providing a safe and welcoming environment to share experiences, receive guidance, and connect with others facing similar challenges. Meetings are held at the CKE Community Centre, located at 1015 73 Ave SW in Calgary, and include a Zoom option for those who prefer to attend remotely.

Prostate cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian men. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, approximately 24,100 men in Canada are diagnosed each year. With early detection, outcomes can be positive, but the journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery is often complex and emotionally demanding. PROSTAID Calgary’s monthly meetings help address this need for support by offering a place for open conversation and access to practical, experience-based knowledge.
“Our meetings are about connection—offering people a space where they’re not alone in what they’re going through,” said a PROSTAID Calgary spokesperson. “Whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with prostate cancer for years, or if you're caring for someone who is, you’ll find support and community here.”
Each month, participants hear from expert speakers, including health professionals, researchers, and specialists in cancer care. Past events have featured topics ranging from treatment advancements to community-based care. Most recently, the June 2025 meeting featured Feven Gebregiorgis from Miracle Home Care, who spoke about options for individuals undergoing cancer treatment who wish to receive care at home surrounded by family.
In addition to the general meeting, the organization facilitates smaller group discussions focused on specific experiences. The “Warriors” group supports men currently in treatment or recovery, while the “Wives & Caregivers” group provides space for loved ones and support partners to share and connect with others in similar roles.
Beyond its meetings, PROSTAID Calgary publishes a monthly online newsletter, The Digital Examiner, which currently reaches over 1,300 subscribers. The organization’s website is also regularly updated with new content and serves as a central resource for those seeking information and support.
