Citizens for Judicial Fairness Poll: New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer Well Positioned for Victory in Race for Delaware Governor, Vice President Kamala Harris Favorability Ratings Pass Biden

Today, Citizens for Judicial Fairness released the results of a poll of voters in Delaware showing a two-to-one advantage for New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer over Delaware House of Representatives Minority Leader Mike Ramone.

The Slingshot Strategies survey found that if the election were held today, 52% of registered voters would support Meyer for Governor while 25% would support the Republican nominee, Mike Ramone.

The poll comes following Meyer’s landslide defeat of Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long in the Democratic Primary. Hall-Long’s campaign was marred by scandals and news that she broke Delaware law dozens of times by submitting misleading campaign finance statements, failing to disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments to herself and her husband from the campaign, and the acceptance of tens of thousands of donation dollars over the legal limit from unregistered organizations. Hall-Long’s husband also allegedly stole contact lists of Section 8 housing recipients to pressure them to vote for her.

On the national stage, Vice President Kamala Harris showed a 60% favorability rating among Delaware voters, 6 points higher than President Joe Biden’s 54%. Former President Donald Trump held just 39% favorability. If the election were held today, 54% of respondents said they would vote for Vice President Harris against just 37% who expressed support for former President Trump.

Said Citizens for Judicial Fairness Spokesperson Chris Coffey, “It’s an exciting time in Delaware and a new day for a state that’s been crying out for change for years now. Mr. Meyer appears well positioned for victory this November, and we know that whoever takes over the Governor’s Mansion in 2025 will be a breath of fresh air for a state that needs it. The days of the old Delaware Way, led by an establishment that is rife with corruption will soon be in the past.

“Our campaign will continue to invest in Delaware’s future, and continue to fight for fairness, equity and justice in this state’s justice system, and we are eager to get to work building a more transparent and accountable state government, and a more equitable and diverse judiciary.”

The survey was conducted by Slingshot Strategies between September 19th and September 21st, and sampled 500 registered voters with a margin of error of 4.4%.
