PLANO, TX - Brooks Eye Associates has announced the addition of Dr. Vishal Patel to their growing team of ophthalmologists. Dr. Patel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who brings a patient-first mindset and advanced medical expertise in eye care to the practice. Fluent in Gujarati and conversational in both Hindi and Spanish, Dr. Patel will be seeing patients at Brooks Eye Associates’ offices in both Plano and Irving.

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers before completing his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He later pursued advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at the Cleveland Clinic’s Cole Eye Institute, one of the nation's leading ophthalmic institutions.
Dr. Patel’s interest in ophthalmology began during his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. It was during his time volunteering at a local eye clinic that he first experienced the powerful role vision plays in a person’s overall well-being. Today, that early inspiration fuels his patient-first approach to care, with a strong emphasis on clear communication and shared decision-making.
Known for his calm demeanor and careful explanations, Dr. Patel has earned praise from colleagues and patients alike for his ability to break down complex diagnoses and empower patients to play an active role in their treatment plans. Whether he’s managing routine cases or helping patients navigate the challenges of glaucoma, Dr. Patel takes the time with each individual to ensure their concerns are heard and understood.
In addition to treating glaucoma, Dr. Patel will provide a comprehensive range of medical eye care services at Brooks Eye Associates, including cataract management and surgical consultations. His advanced training and bilingual fluency enable him to serve a diverse patient population, and his presence enhances the practice’s capacity to provide highly specialized care across both its Plano and Irving locations.
Outside of the exam room, Dr. Patel enjoys travelling, playing guitar, and competing in lively pickleball matches with his wife. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
