Vancouver, BC, Canada, March 10, 2026 - To spotlight its patent-pending Capillary Casting technology for thermoelectric generators, Delta, BC-based PyroDelta Energy Corp has entered the US Government’s inaugural DARPA Lift Challenge. PyroDelta believes its technology offers a strong advantage as it competes for a finalist position in one of the most closely watched innovation challenges in the vertical heavy-lift sector.

The DARPA LIFT Challenge is a U.S. Defense Advanced Research competition created to develop radically more capable heavy‑lift drones that can carry payloads more than two times their own weight. By offering $6.5 million in prize money, the Challenge seeks to incentivize university researchers, independent innovators and industry to set a new standard in vertical lift performance and shatter the heavy lift bottleneck that has stymied the industry for years. If achieved, this breakthrough could revolutionize drone use for a wide range of sectors including remote cargo delivery, construction, infrastructure, disaster relief, agriculture, forestry and defense.

For PyroDelta, it’s a chance to strut its proprietary technology and give Canada bragging rights in drone technology development. PyroDelta is entering the competition with an innovative—and for now, secretive—drone design using a thermoelectric generator that saves significant weight in the drone assembly. PyroDelta’s thermoelectric generator is expected to significantly enhance the endurance and mission flexibility of its drone design. As a result, PyroDelta believes it is well‑positioned to stand out amongst competitors in the challenge.

“We believe, and more so we are ready to prove, that our thermoelectric technology can be a game‑changer for unmanned flight,” said PyroDelta Head Engineer Michael Abdelmaseh. “The DARPA Lift Challenge is pushing the boundaries of what heavy payload drones can do, and we’re confident that our design gives us a meaningful advantage in pushing the industry to new heights for payload and range.”
