KT Altimedia, a Certified Widevine Third Party Lab (3PL) partner and Korea's leading media solution company, has announced the launch of its Widevine Local License Server Service. The service is designed to support PayTV operators, OTT service providers, and other streaming service providers in migrating away from the Widevine License Service (WLS) ahead of its sunset on April 13, 2027.

The WLS, a free, Google-hosted Widevine cloud-based DRM licensing endpoint, has been widely used by operators around the world for both Widevine DRM and Widevine CAS deployments. With the WLS set to be fully decommissioned, operators that depend on this infrastructure must now establish their own alternative licensing environment.

KT Altimedia's Widevine Local License Server Service provides a seamless migration path for operators navigating this transition. Covering both Widevine DRM and Widevine CAS license issuance, the service handles deployment, integration, monitoring, and ongoing operations, enabling operators to ensure continuity without the complexity of building and maintaining their own licensing infrastructure.

CEO of KT Altimedia, Do Sa Park, commented, "The WLS sunset represents one of the most significant shifts in content protection infrastructure the industry has seen in years. With over two decades of expertise in CAS and DRM technologies, KT Altimedia is uniquely positioned to help operators navigate this transition with confidence."

As a certified 3PL partner, KT Altimedia has deep familiarity with Widevine's certification requirements, technical architecture, and operational standards. The company's solutions are currently deployed across more than 30 operators in 12 countries, including major PayTV operators in Asia and Europe.
