Validus announced today that Sean X. Chen will join the firm as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Managing Partner.

Mr. Chen brings over 20+ years of operations and compliance experience to Validus and has an extensive record working with investment advisory firms serving ultra-high net-worth individuals and families. Mr. Chen will be responsible for the management and evolution of the firm’s operational and business solutions.

Based in Los Angeles, Validus Capital is an independent firm with a team leveraging decades of combined experience to help successful entrepreneurs and multi-generational families manage the challenges and complexities of wealth through comprehensive advisory, wealth management, private fund platform and bespoke family office services.

Prior to joining Validus Capital, Mr. Chen spent five years with Camden Capital, serving multiple leadership roles in compliance and operations and most recently served as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to Camden, Mr. Chen oversaw operations at Luminous Capital – a registered investment advisory firm that was acquired by First Republic Bank. At Luminous Capital, he supported the firm’s growth from $1.7 billion in assets under management to approximately $6 billion over a five-year period. Prior to Luminous, he spent over 10 years at Merrill Lynch & Co.
