Northville, MichiganAttorneys at Legal Help for Veterans PLLC recently applauded the receipt of the MVAA Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly Employer Award for three Michigan employers.

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) uses the Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly Employer Award to recognize employers who make strong commitments to recruit, train, and retain veterans as employees.

The most recent awards went to AlixPartners, the Michigan Gaming Control Board, and the Michigan State Lottery.

AlixPartners became a Silver-level member of the VFE program in 2019. Since then, the company has launched its Military and Uniformed Service Team (MUST), a resource group that offers employment and community support for veterans. The company has also created a military leave policy.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board received Silver-level recognition in 2023. Since then, the agency has made it a top priority to recruit and hire veterans and service members, offering benefits like service credit and supplemental pay for emergency active-duty members. The MGCB has a 95 percent retention rate for its veteran employees and is a member of the MVAA Veteran Connector Program.

The Michigan State Lottery also became a Silver-level VFE member in 2023. The Michigan State Lottery’s veterans’ offerings echo those offered by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The Michigan State Lottery’s current retention rate for its veteran employees is 100 percent.

AlixPartners, the Michigan Gaming Control Board, and the Michigan State Lottery join 33 previous Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly Award winners, bringing the total number of Gold-Level winners up to 36 statewide. About 190 Michigan employers are active participants in the VFE program.

“The Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly Employer Award demonstrates that these employers are doing their best to support our veterans,” say attorneys at Legal Help for Veterans PLLC. “They’re setting a standard that serves as a goal for all Michigan employers.”

MVAA’s Veteran-Friendly Employer program awards Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards to employers that commit to recruiting, training, and retaining veterans within their workforces. The agency also helps employers develop the practices and programs they need to find qualified veterans and help them thrive in the workplace.

The attorneys at Legal Help for Veterans have a national practice representing veterans from across the country. They have helped veterans collect over $10,000,000 in future and retroactive benefits.
